Epic OT commentary

Commentary on the strip explaining the finer details in the comic.
As you can see above all the events takes place on Otopia (OT Island)
This was the image of OT’s frontpage a while back.
This was an ideal setting for the epic battle due to the isolated nature of the island and the lush jungle/forest environment.
Also perfect way to illustrate ‘surfing’ OT/internet
The surfboard design incorporate OT’s logo (O & T) as well as it’s color scheme.
One of my favorite panel, just loved how it turned out.
Dilldoe’s weapon of choice would be mspaint. Yes I know MsPaint has a brush tool, which is more versatile than the single point pencil, but pencil is the universal icon for aliased drawing tool (and it’s sharp!)
If he could kill trolls with paint then the comic would’ve been very short lived. I needed them to be endless, so decided to make them regenerated (like starfish, worms, etc..)
And like many noobs/trolls the prefer method of copying is reposting.
Enter OT’s Gun Crew. Needed a crew with weapons so that was a no-brainer.
Also on the lower left is my signature. Every page contains my signature.
Again, if guns were the solution we wouldn’t have a comic. Slight jab at the gun crew showing how they were taken down while reloading
This was suppose to be OT’s user panel.
Darkness is one of the forum skin on OT (for those non-ot members) which is a darker color theme skin.
Another one of my favorite panel. The introduction of the Night Crew. I love how menacing it looks, a freaky gang with glowing eyes stepping out of the dark jungle. Now I’m not gonna list who’s who (or confirm nor deny) but all the characters look were based on OT’ers AV (avatars) and/or usernames.
The ninja was suppose to represent the Asian Crew (who are Night Crew by default due to timezone difference) but it’s also for Ninja Edit which I tried to show with the (partial) Edit.
Whistling sound fx. I tried to make the notes look as close to LOL as possible, without being totally obvious.
I was quite pleased with how this panel turned out. Obviously OT member lolzilla. Even made more obvious with the repeating LOL scales on it’s back.
The blast has a core inspired by MadrollingZangief (an OT meme)
Having the Night Crew eat the dead solved the problem of regenerating trolls.
But, at the same time the troll blood infecting them. This shows the formation of the bloody T.
This was DillDoe’s attempt to get rid of Night Crew by turning it back to Daytime (classic skin)
The walama, quite possibly the funniest panel in the strip, was a last minute addition. I didn’t want to draw another running panel and this was the solution that popped up in my head.
For Night Crew to catch up, I inserted the Bandwagon. It’s being pulled by Tom Yums & Frankies. Both were involved in an AV bandwagon dispute on who was better. An old photo of a nerdy Asian dude or Frankie from Home for Imaginary Friends. There’s also an OT member lurking behind the Yums and the wagon wheels are made of Pizza (another silly bandwagon)
I needed a way to get the Mods involved so the Lurker was the perfect tool to do this. I’ve always intended to have a chick at the Front Desk so it didn’t really matter who the actual mod was.

I didn’t realize that Joe Cool was actually Snoopy with sunglass, which I couldn’t use since I’ve already assigned it to another member. So went with Joe Camel, smoking Kool cigarettes. Again you can see the Pizza wheel on the (destroyed) bandwagon.
Continuing the AV bandwagon theme, joe_cool is being attacked/eaten by Top Hat & monocle, Swine Flu, and Holiday themed AV’s
Also, Obi Wan Force Push meme in the back of the first panel to help push down the Mod.
Seeing how Mods are part of OT’s system, infected Mods means infected System. Hence the Poz Mod Warning. Poz is term used for being infected with HIV (usually) thru unprotected gay sex. Also Lurker doing a rainman breakdown due to the alarm.
I (tried) to go with a Michael Bay version of Transformer (look at those lips!) Which meant more work for me. It was a pain in the ass to draw due to all the parts and colors. (Yean I know it’s only 3 colors, but add the shadow & lights, its up to 9 colors)

Tried to show him transforming into a (Ban) Stick. The rocket is not from his back, but from his mullet.
The Gun is really a SMod, whom I confused with the actual mod that banned Hamburglar (sorry D_Nice)
I really REALLY wanted to add the dialog, “Lobble, Lobble?” (asian variation of Robble, Rooble), but decided to keep it dialog free.
DillDoe’s glowing eyes & body was because I’ve just watched the entire series of Avatar the last airbender recently. Also sticking with neither confirming nor denying OT members (sans obvious ones) all the ones shown here are all permabanned. Clues to their identities are hinted with items in their right hands.

What do most member who get banned do? They come back as AE’s
Originally I had DillDoe breakdown (oh noes) from the upcoming unwinnable fight, with Tank too weak to do anything about it. Had also intended to add a view from the robot showing low batter, damage, etc.. as well as the line from T2, “I know now why you cry” for the lulz. Due to laziness I went with this, which conveys the despair and assuring sacrifice with simple facial expression and a hand on the shoulder. Again, a clear look at the Mullet Rocket firing up.
Taken from the original Tranformer movie with dying Optimus Prime passing down the Matrix of Leadership. I really like how the panel turned out. The look was just what I pictured.
Most logic use of another SMod. A Robot with an LS1 engine for a heart.
Perma Ban (seen in the water) also Tank splashing into the ocean on the far right.
I’ve always intended to end the strip on the Aladdin’s song, but I changed the way it looked at the last moment. I had intended to have DillDoe still on the island looking up at the flying carpet, but I really got sick of drawing the island.
Looking at the lyrics I decided to do the whole ending on the carpet, just like in the movie.
Banner is a small jab at the ad banners as well as the failed attempt to troll Tom Cruise with a “Hail Xenu” banner (Project Xenu)
I had to edit the lyrics to fit. I changed “A hundred thousand things to see” to “A 11ty Billion” to reflect OT’s meme. The carpet is a direct copy of the design in the movie.
Seeing how the lyrics were on this page, I’ve decided to gay it up with the Titanic scene.
OT X (10) on the genie lamp. At the time alot of promises were made for the next version of OT. Don’t remember what they were (shows how much I care, lol), but some still remembers.
This was how I wanted to end the comic from the beginning. A homage to horror films where no one escape unscathed.
And it was not just a dream. DillDoe is just waking up from the Permaban explosion to the lyrical stylings of Fazle!
The comic was pretty much drawn on the fly. I didn’t bother with a script, just a general scope of what the story will be like and who to use. I fleshed out the story with each page, I had to end each one with a semi cliff hanger to keep me and the readers interested for the next page. Very pleased with how it turned out and can’t find anything I would really change (a first). I did however picture an alternative ending that was a bit more serious, but glad I went with this version instead.
